WWW Wednesday – 3rd August 2016

Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday post, a meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words. Please go and have a look at everyone else is reading and make sure you post your own WWW in the comments so I can have a look.

The premise of the post is quite simple – answer the three Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I am currently halfway through I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak. It’s a slower process than I anticipated because, although the story is fairly simple, the writing is so complex it requires every word to be devoured individually. This was what I loved so much about The Book Thief, so I’m really glad it’s the same here. I want to mash both books up into soup and drink them. They are both so beautiful. At the moment, I’m reading around 40 pages a day, before being too mentally exhausted to go on.

What did you recently finish reading?

The last book I read was A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, which turned me into a blubbering mess. It really is the best book I’ve read in a long time, and I urge everyone to get yourself a copy and read it. It took me a few hours in total, and I loved every minute of it. I don’t want to say much here because I’ve already gushed at great length in my review, so please go and have a look at that instead! See my review here.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah has been at the top of my TBR pile for so long, but I think I’ll read something light and easy first, maybe After You by Jojo Moyes. It all depends how I feel after the beautiful monster that is I Am The Messenger!

Great reads :). A Monster Calls is one I have heard a lot of. I did begin it, but never got round to finish it. It’s gathering dust on my TBR pile, but that’ll change now! I never knew there was a sequel to ‘Me Before you’. I’ll have to check that out!

Hooray! I’m so glad you loved A Monster Calls! 🙂 It was one of the best books I read last year and one of the best books I think I may have ever read. So emotional and so wise at the same time. Just brilliant.

I’m still not sure I want to read After You. I really liked where we left Louisa at the end of the first book and I like to think of her still in Paris having a nice time. I’m not sure I want to know what happened to her next! 🙂

Thanks for visiting my WWW post earlier (https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/08/03/www-wednesday-3rd-august-2016/) and happy reading!

So glad that you loved A Monster Calls. It’s probably one of my all time favourites and I’m currently trying to track down a limited edition hardback to add to my collection.

I’m not sure I would say that After You was a light and easy read. I think I cried most of the way through it, although I do cry at pretty much everything 🙂

I have wanted to read A Monster Calls since your review. It sounds quite interesting. I am also glad that you are enjoying I am a Messenger. Markus never disappoints and his writing is so beautiful, devouring it sounds like the best way to go about it. After You has some mixed reviews, I look forward to reading your review though. I am still on the fence about reading it. Happy Wednesday!

I read After You as an ARC a while back it is good but no Me Before You but I think any fan of the original will still get a kick out of reading it.

I keep thinking I need to read some Patrick Ness. Everyone says amazing things about him and I haven’t had the chance to read one yet. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
